Welcome!
My name is Daniel Blinderman. I am a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Program on Constitutionalism and Democracy (housed within the Department of Politics) at the University of Virginia. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan in June of 2025. My research interests are principally in American Politics, with a supplementary interest in Comparative Politics. My research focuses on American Political Development, with particular concern for state constitutional development, the political development of the American south and the legal, institutional, and policy legacies of social movement mobilization.
I am currently the instructor of record for “The American Political Tradition”, an upper-level seminar at the University of Virginia. At Michigan, I was a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) for both introductory courses and advanced seminars, as well as a Graduate Student Research Assistant (GSRA) for several research projects. I also participated in Michigan’s Foundational Courses Initiative (FCI) where I helped lead the redesign of a core course in the Political Science Department.
Prior to coming to UM, I worked as a community organizer for both the Naugatuck Valley Project (NVP) and T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights. I graduated from Wesleyan University in 2014 with a Bachelors of Arts (with honors) in the College of Social Studies.
